Learn about the Fascia Project approach
To understand the method we incorporate in our sessions for clients that are seeking targeted relief or care you must first know a little bit about fascia!
What is Fascia?
Fascia is a continuous network of connective tissue that surrounds and supports every structure in the human body, including organs, muscles, nerves, blood vessels, and bones. Think of it as a thin, web-like casing that holds everything in place and provides internal structure.

How Fascia Works
Fascia is a dynamic tissue that plays a vital role in movement, posture, and overall health.
Fascia transmits mechanical tension generated by muscle activity and external forces throughout the body. This is often described using a concept called tensegrity, where the entire fascial network distributes forces, similar to how a web or a tent's structure works, ensuring the body can handle stress without damage.

The fascial network is not a passive structure; it adapts to mechanical stress, remodeling its structure based on the demands placed on it. For example, repeated movements can cause the collagen fibers in the fascia to stiffen in a certain direction, which can either be beneficial for stability or lead to restricted motion if not balanced with a variety of movements
In a healthy state, fascia is smooth, flexible, and hydrated, allowing muscles and other tissues to glide and slide against each other. When fascia becomes tight, sticky, or dehydrated due to factors like inactivity, injury, or poor posture, it can restrict movement, cause pain, and lead to the formation of "knots" or adhesions
Now that you know that...
You may be wondering what does that mean and how does it look when I am receiving theraputic massage and bodywork at Fascia Project?
That answer depends on what you, the client, are looking to get out of your session.
Your massage therapist will sit down your first session and go over your goals. Whatever that goal may be, whether it is targeted pain relief, Improving a lack of range of motion, or even if you just need to relax and drop your stress levels we will create a treatment that aligns with your needs and we always work with the fascial network of your body in mind.
